Oliver Broom, the 29 -year-old everyman left London on his bike in October 2009 to cycle all the way to Brisbane Cricket Ground -The Gabba, in Australia - in time to see England play Australia in the first Ashes Test Match of the 2010/11 series, which is one of the sport's most fierce and celebrated rivalries, dating back to 1882. Oli found his life boring and pointless, after working as a chartered surveyor in London and decided to realize his long planned dream to travel around the world and get to know other cultures and people. He was also teaching cricket, his so beloved childhood sport, on his way and raised 50.000 GBP for 2 charities on his 14 months journey to Australia. He met Laci Jozsa in Budapest, who decided to follow his journey and find other filmmakers over the world to cover this story. He managed to find supporters/filmmakers from UK, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, India, Indonesia and Australia. Oli’s inspiring character and the challenging 14 months journey, spiced with the unexpected taste of cricket, motivated us and the multinational team of filmmakers to film this round-the-world bike tour. |
