The Lobster Pot is an atmospheric rural drama set on the West coast of Ireland, a place of green and grey, carved out of rock by the rolling Atlantic sea.

After a poor day’s fishing, Charlie, a lobster fisherman, brings home a couple of lobsters for his Hungarian babysitter. A small gift with meaning. When Lilla discovers she has to cook them alive she is pulled back to her fraught past and her own captivity.

The film grows from oppressive beauty through claustrophobic horror to lightness and freedom. We paint our characters into their scene and get closer to them throughout the short narrative until we know them and are close enough to hear their thoughts.

The Lobster Pot captures the spirit of this dying Irish community with a love-story that incorporates the very dark theme of human trafficking.
